On 15 February 2026, I went for a photo walk through the winter forests near Burgwedel.
The walk took me alongside a narrow creek, winding through snow-covered banks and past a small flock of sheep sheltering happily in a wooden hut. Further into the forest, two walkers had ventured ahead; their figures were tiny among the tall trees.
An old information sign, heavily painted on over the years, stood out oddly against the enchanting winter landscape.
Beyond the treeline, the fields opened up. The bare trees created striking compositions of high contrast against the pale winter sky. I also found an old, tilted wooden utility pole, with a modern steel transmission tower just behind it.
